Head Man -
Peter Emmerson
ROMFORD-RAISED Peter Emmerson has enjoyed
two long stints under trainer Henry Cecil. Prior to joining the Warren Place
team in 1980, he had largely been based with training operations in
Middleham, having served as an apprentice at the outset. Like Billy
Aldridge, he has seen many of the champions that have graced Warren Place
Stables and cites Oh So Sharp, Ardross, Slip Anchor and Reference Point as
the stars from his first spell with Henry. After eight years from 1990
working for another trainer on the Hamilton Road, Peter returned and has
enjoyed seeing stars such as Light Shift, Love Divine, Oath, Shiva and Beat
Hollow. Oaks heroine Light Shift will also hold a special place in his heart
as he rode her work for much of her Classic-winning year. Among the good
horses that he has done have been Derby third Mashkour, Claude Monet and
Shibboleth.
