Ardross was one of the great stayers of modern times as his magnificent record underlines. The teak tough bay achieved 13 Group wins - a feat equalled but yet to be headed. There were marvellous days at many of the major fixtures as he won the Ascot Gold Cup (twice), the Goodwood Cup and the Doncaster Cup.
